For more than 40 years, Slipstop International has successfully partnered with occupational risk managers, loss control managers, architects, and various safety professionals to minimize accidents caused by slips, trips, and falls on wet surfaces.
Since the 1980s, the flooring industry has advanced tremendously, and so have we. The introduction of new floor designs and materials has continuously stimulated us to improve and expand our treatment for slippery floor methods and products.
When I started with the company in 1988, to have a safe floor meant an industrial practical look. Not exactly pretty. We worked closely with tile producers and participated in slip-resistant committees around the world. Floor safety is truly a complex issue. Organisations were desperate for a guideline to be written. A slip-resistant value that met with an industry standard, a “can of worms” topic.
Duty of care is paramount, owners and managers are liable. They are responsible for the safety of workers and the public. Extreme cases of neglect resulting in an accident can lead to imprisonment for the owner. It is that serious. It is a huge topic.
Our mission is to keep people safe on their feet, to allow them the right to walk with confidence. Yes, we supply the documentation, and the test results of proof the floor conforms to the relevant safety requirements. Yes, we provide guarantee and safety programs. But, more than anything, we keep it practical and real. The certification of conformity we provide correlates with no more slip accidents!
One of our first cruise clients who had slip accidents daily met our “too good to be true solution” with trepidation. They gave us one restaurant on board to use as a trial. They chose the most treacherous area. After our anti-slip treatment, their monitoring showed that instead of daily accidents, they did not have a single slip accident in the whole year.
